Card decline code
withdrawal_count_limit_exceeded: Withdrawal count limit exceeded
The customer has exceeded the balance or credit limit on the card. Stripe suggests using another payment method; a later retry can also work once the limit resets.
What withdrawal_count_limit_exceeded means
withdrawal_count_limit_exceeded means the account has hit its available balance or credit limit, or the number of withdrawals allowed.
Like insufficient_funds, it can clear by itself once the account is topped up or the limit resets.
Should you retry the payment?
Wait a few days and retry, while offering the customer a way to switch cards.

"Hi Sam, your $49 Acme payment didn't go through. We'll try again on Friday, or you can update your card here."

How Revnio handles withdrawal_count_limit_exceeded
Revnio records withdrawal_count_limit_exceeded on the failed payment, follows your retry schedule (by default 1, 3, 5 and 7 days, adjusted for the customer's value and plan, and moved to weekday business hours), and emails the customer a secure link to pay or update their card. WhatsApp (Pro plan) reminders follow if the email is not clicked. The Insights page shows how often each decline code recovers for you. On Paddle, Paddle runs the payment retries itself and Revnio handles the customer outreach.
Decline codes are returned by the card issuer through your payment processor. Code names here follow Stripe's; Chargebee and Paddle surface the same issuer reasons with their own wording. Last reviewed 2026-10-15.
